Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of methods does the MBody Strength Training Center employ?
The Mbody Strength Training Center utilizes the best unconventional training tactics available. From kettlebells to sandbags, rings to bodyweight training, MBody Strength Training Centers provide users with methods that will not only get them into ridiculous shape but are ridiculously fun as well. You go ahead and try to slam a tire with a sledgehammer and not have a grin on your face.
The methods we use will help strip off bodyfat, build functional core and grip strength, put on some lean muscle mass and just get you moving like an athlete.
What kind of results can I expect from MBody Strength Training Centers?
What kind of effort will you put in? If you follow our proven tactics and plans then you will see results within a couple of weeks! We’ve had clients drop pounds and inches in the first week of training. All we ask is you follow the plan and then get prepared for amazing results!
I thought Kettlebells were just for conditioning.
First off that’s not a question. Secondly, while kettlebells are awesome for stripping body fat and increasing your aerobic capacity just as with any implement, heavier weights plus big eating will equate to bigger muscles. If your goal is to put weight on then you will do just that as long as you eat and lift accordingly. Double kettlebell exercises along with barbell work do wonders at building the body!
Shouldn’t I just do cardio if I want to lean out? I don’t want to get bulky?
While cardio work is important and does help in the leaning out process, bulk should not bee feared! It takes hard, specific work to get bulky. You have to eat like you mean it. Women especially needn’t worry. It’s hard enough for men with boatloads more testosterone to put on mass and they’re trying to build! Lifting heavy and increasing your work capacity along with a nice, healthy diet will do a great job at not only getting you lean but strong too!
Is this going to make me look like a bodybuilder?
Bodybuilding is an art in itself. While we have nothing but respect for men and women who put forth tons of discipline to achieve their goals this is not bodybuilding. You have to train like a bodybuilder to look like a bodybuilder. While there are some movements we use that are similar MBody Strength Training Centers do not focus on individual muscles to the extent that bodybuilders will.
How long will it take me to get into shape?
It all depends on where you are. Do you have 100lbs or more to lose? It’s going to take you a little longer than if you have 10lbs to lose. For those under 50lbs overweight a loss of 2-5lbs a week and .5-1% bodyfat is completely possible just as long as you follow the plan exactly and consistently. For those well over, a weekly loss of 5lbs or more is completely doable. Ultimately it depends on your goals, but no matter what this is a lifelong process, not a quick 12-week fix.
Can I workout everyday?
You can train light every day but what the point of training light? Even if you’re not targeting specific muscle groups you are hitting the body hard each session, which means you need some time off. Even if you do a few days on a couple off there needs to be a break in there.
Active recovery is a great way to lessen soreness and get a little leaner in the process. One of the best Active recovery techniques is walking. It’s funny how something so simple can be so effective.
My hands are starting to callus? What should I do?
While callused hands are part of the game with any weight training without gloves, it’s important to take care of them before they get out of hand (sorry, couldn’t resist).
Gloves can work to fight off calluses but you lose the “feel” of the bell, which is important. During ballistic kettlebell work it’s important to keep a lose grip and allow the kettlebell to move freely in the hand which gloves make a little more difficult.
Regardless of whether you use gloves or not, make sure calluses don’t get jagged. They will tear making for an unwanted break from training. Blisters are no fun either. Once the feeling is there, ease back a little and let your hands heal before going too hard.
